Our Homes

A home should feel like home.

At H.U.G.E. TODAY, we believe the environment in which someone lives can have a significant impact on their wellbeing and quality of life.

Our SIL home is designed to be comfortable, welcoming and lived-in.

We don't want our homes to feel like facilities.

We want them to feel like homes.

A Shared Home Environment

Our SIL model provides a shared living environment where

participants have their own personal space while sharing

common areas and household experiences.

Shared living can provide opportunities to:

  • Develop relationships

  • Share meals

  • Participate in household activities

  • Learn from one another

  • Develop communication skills

  • Build confidence

  • Experience a sense of belonging

At the same time, we recognise the importance of privacy,

personal space and individual routines.

Your Home, Your Routine

We don't believe everyone needs to live their life according to the same schedule.

Participants are supported to develop routines that reflect their individual needs, interests and goals.

This may include time for:

  • Work

  • Community activities

  • Exercise

  • Appointments

  • Hobbies

  • Social activities

  • Household responsibilities

  • Relaxation

  • Personal interests

A Home That Supports Growth

Our home environment provides everyday opportunities to build independence.

  • Cooking a meal.

  • Doing the washing.

  • Planning the shopping.

  • Cleaning your room.

  • Looking after the garden.

  • Preparing for work.

  • Organising an appointment.

These everyday activities can become opportunities to develop skills and confidence.

Finding the Right Household Fit

Moving into shared accommodation is a significant decision.

We carefully consider whether a participant's needs, preferences and lifestyle are compatible with the existing household.

We consider factors such as:

  • Support requirements

  • Communication style

  • Interests

  • Lifestyle

  • Routines

  • Personal preferences

  • Household dynamics

  • Safety and wellbeing

Our aim is to create a household where everyone has the opportunity to feel comfortable, respected and at home.

Our Ballina Home

A home designed for living, connecting and feeling at home.

Our Ballina Supported Independent Living home is more than a place to receive support — it is a real home where people can relax, pursue their interests, build confidence and enjoy everyday life.

Located in the Northern Rivers, the home provides a comfortable and welcoming shared living environment with spaces designed to give participants both connection and choice.

There are shared areas where people can spend time together, as well as separate living spaces where participants can enjoy some quiet time, watch their own programs or simply have space to themselves.

The home includes a range of amenities and activities, including:

🎱 Pool table for games, socialising and friendly competition

🎮 Video games and gaming options for entertainment and downtime

📺 Streaming TV services for movies, television and shared entertainment

🛋️ Multiple living areas providing choice between social and quieter spaces

🍽️ Shared dining and kitchen areas where participants can prepare meals and enjoy them together

🏡 Outdoor areas and gardens to enjoy fresh air, relaxation and everyday activities

🏋️ Home-based fitness and recreational equipment

🎨 Space for hobbies, interests and creative activities

🌿 Comfortable indoor and outdoor spaces where participants can spend time in ways that suit their individual preferences

We believe that shared living should never mean giving up individuality. Participants are supported to establish their own routines, pursue their interests and make choices about how they spend their time. Whether that's playing a game of pool, relaxing with a movie, getting involved in a shared activity, preparing dinner, enjoying some time outdoors or simply having a quiet afternoon in their own space, our Ballina home provides opportunities for participants to live life in a way that feels meaningful to them. More than accommodation. A place to belong. At H.U.G.E. TODAY, we want our homes to feel like homes first and supported environments second — places where people feel comfortable, respected and genuinely part of the household.
